Senior Software Engineer · Houston, TX
Audy Arandela
I build dependable backend systems and full-stack products — professionally since 2019 across fintech, health tech, and education, plus three live products of my own. Day to day: Clojure, ClojureScript, and AWS.
Selected work
-
Rate Goals
Which football goal is the greatest of all time? Rate Goals settles it with chess math — watch two goals side by side, pick the better one, and an Elo-style rating ranks them over time. I built the rating engine and API in Clojure and Ring, with a ClojureScript and Re-frame front end.

RA Guide
Relic Arena players had no home for builds the way Diablo players have d4builds. RA Guide is that catalog — compositions, relic priorities, and strategies. I kept the architecture deliberately lean: a ClojureScript single-page app on Cloudflare Pages reading Supabase Postgres through PostgREST, so it runs as a curated resource at near-zero operating cost.

IntakeOutput
Tracking a patient's fluid intake and output usually means paper charts and spreadsheets. IntakeOutput gives patients and caregivers quick-entry logging, medication reminders, and dashboards across multiple patients. The Clojure back end stores UTC only and the ClojureScript front end owns every timezone conversion — boring, reliable time handling, which is what you want in medical data.

Senior Software Engineer
Guaranteed Rate
Sep 2021 – Present
Build and operate the core data platform services that connect third-party vendors to Guaranteed Rate's lending applications. My work spans Clojure API development and the AWS infrastructure behind it — Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and Elasticsearch — plus production on-call, troubleshooting, and helping other engineers integrate reliably with the platform.

Full-Stack Developer
Luminare
Nov 2019 – Sep 2021
Delivered health-tech features end to end, from backend services and data workflows to React and Re-frame interfaces, using Clojure, ClojureScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. During COVID-19, helped build a screening and vaccination app used by the cities of Houston and Dallas to support efficient vaccination operations. Used quantitative data to guide implementation decisions and participated in the team's adoption of Kanban and Scrum.
-
Junior React Engineer
EOG Resources
Jun 2019 – Nov 2019
New features and performance work in React, Redux, and Redux Saga on internal applications for one of the largest US energy producers.
Capabilities
-
Backend & APIs
Clojure and Node.js services on the JVM — REST APIs, microservices, and the PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch layers behind them — with JWT- and IAM-based authorization, unit testing, and performance optimization as habits, not afterthoughts. Python for tooling.
-
Product engineering
Full products from data model to UI: React, Re-frame, and Redux front ends in ClojureScript and JavaScript, shaped by functional programming and shipped iteratively with Agile teams.
-
Infrastructure & delivery
AWS end to end — Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and serverless — with CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows that keep shipping boring and deployments uneventful.
